Caritas Czech Republic starts to implement two projects in Racha-Letskhumi

Caritas Czech Republic, with the financial support of Slovak Aid, in Racha-Letskhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Region of Georgia, namely in Oni and Ambrolauri municipalities started two projects - “Mitigating the negative economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the population of the Georgian mountain region of Racha” and “Supporting green actions in Oni Municipality through the development of waste management infrastructure”.

Representatives of Caritas Czech Republic, held the meetings with State Trustee in Racha-Lechkhumi & Kvemo Svaneti Region Mr. Archil Japaridze, Mayor of Ambrolauri Municipality Mr. Zviad Mkheidze, Head of Sakrebulo (City Council) of Ambrolauri Municipality Mr. Aslan Saganelidze, Mayor of Oni Municipality Mr. David Chikvaidze, Head of Sakrebulo (City Council) of Oni Municipality Ms. Shuqura Japaridze, as well as with the community representatives of Ambrolauri and Oni Municipalities.

The parties discussed the projects activities and agreed on further steps of collaboration. The project “Mitigating the negative economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the population of the Georgian mountain region of Racha” envisages support to SMEs via grants and support to vulnerable groups through agricultural means.

The project “Supporting green actions in Oni Municipality through the development of waste management infrastructure” envisages the development of a sustainable waste management model at the local level, the creation of waste management infrastructure and capacity building capabilities, the introduction of biodegradable waste use practices, and the strengthening of population involvement in waste recycling and environmental awareness.
