Trust is behind the success of Czech development cooperation, says country programme coordinator Filip Tlapa

Caritas Czech Republic has been working in Georgia for more than ten years. Over the past decade, it has built the trust of local communities and institutions, and continues to nurture that trust today. A significant part of its activities focuses on healthcare – from cancer prevention and support for paediatric oncology to the development of mental health care. Filip Tlapa, Programme Coordinator for Ethiopia, Georgia and Moldova, speaks about the challenges, achievements, and ongoing changes within Georgia’s healthcare system.

Maia Gabunia: "Autism is not a disease — it is a different developmental pathway"

Caritas Czech Republic has been supporting early childhood education and development services in Georgia for many years. Each year, on April 2, our organization joins the global observance of World Autism Awareness Day, which aims to raise awareness about autism. This year, we would like to highlight an important milestone: Maia Gabunia, a project expert with Caritas Czech Republic, child neurologist, and Doctor of Medicine, has been appointed a Global Leader of the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR).

Challenges Facing Early Intervention Specialists in Georgia

Caritas Czech Republic has been supporting early childhood development in Georgia for many years, working to ensure that as many children as possible can access essential services from an early age. Our main supporter in this work has been the Government of the Czech Republic. Currently, the ongoing project, funded by the Czech Development Agency, aims to improve national policy in early childhood care, train new specialists, and build capacities of service providers. Additionally, it supports the introduction of early childhood development services and inclusive pre-school education strategies in selected municipalities.
