Plogging in Racha starts from the village of Ghebi On 5th of September, Racha hold its first ever plogging event.
Do you know what plogging is? It's an ecological sport that involves cleaning up polluted environments while jogging.
The sporting activities started from the most mountainous villages. Students, parents and teachers from the Glola, Chiora and Ghebi schools participated in the event. The schools in Utsera, Ghari and Oni are preparing for the same activities today.
During the sporting activities, waste was collected in tourist and public spaces. With the support of the Oni municipality, the collected and separated waste was transported to a segregated waste collection point in Kutaisi.
Within the framework of the waste management code of Georgia and the Association Agreement between Georgia and the European union, Georgian municipalities started separating waste in 2019. Caritas Czech Republic, in collaboration with the Slovak organization SOSNA, assists the Oni municipality in developing and implementing a modern waste separation system.
