We help where we are needed. We provide immediate humanitarian aid to people affected by war or natural disaster. As part of our development cooperation, we help people to cut loose and make a living. We focus on the development of health care and social protection as well as  rural development and environmental protection and actively work on systemic changes in Georgia.

From awareness to action: improving cancer prevention for communities across Georgia

In 2025, the Czech Development Agency (CzDA)–funded project Cancer Prevention and Care Enhancement in Georgia moved decisively from planning to implementation – quietly reshaping how cancer prevention mechanisms, diagnosis and data systems function across Georgia. The year was less about visible breakthroughs and more about laying durable foundations: understanding why people do not attend screenings, modernising digital infrastructure, and strengthening the skills of primary health care (PHC) professionals working on the front line.

With three years of dedicated work by Caritas Czech Republic, supported by the Government of the Czech Republic, Georgia has taken an important step in strengthening its early childhood intervention and early inclusive education systems. The project helped translate policy into practice, strengthening systems and service delivery while improving the everyday lives of children with developmental delays and their families.

Challenges Facing Early Intervention Specialists in Georgia

Caritas Czech Republic has been supporting early childhood development in Georgia for many years, working to ensure that as many children as possible can access essential services from an early age. Our main supporter in this work has been the Government of the Czech Republic. Currently, the ongoing project, funded by the Czech Development Agency, aims to improve national policy in early childhood care, train new specialists, and build capacities of service providers. Additionally, it supports the introduction of early childhood development services and inclusive pre-school education strategies in selected municipalities.

In the Czech Republic, our unique Christmas tradition involves a golden pig. According to folklore, if we refrain from eating any food during the day, we will see the golden pig shining on the walls in the evening. This tradition might seem strange to people from abroad. Likewise, people in the Czech Republic may raise their eyebrows at Christmas ornaments shaped like spiders and their webs. Such decorations are customary in Ukraine. Let us introduce ourselves to unusual Christmas traditions from countries where Caritas Czech Republic operates.

Early Diagnosis of Cervical Cancer Gave 47-Year-Old Anna Todua a Second Chance at Life

“When a woman learns she has cervical cancer, the first reaction is fear. It feels like everything around you stops. But when you realise that fighting is possible, fear gives way to hope,” says Anna Todua, a 47-year-old teacher from the village of Kakhat, Zugdidi Municipality, who defeated cervical cancer and now cares about the health of other women.
