I can finally grow vegetables again, despite ISIS, says Ziyad from Iraq

Ziyad from Iraq had been a farmer all his life until ISIS drove him from his farm. His burnt and devastated farm has now been rebuilt thanks to the help of Caritas Czech Republic. His tomatoes, olives and cucumbers are now feeding him again. In addition, he gives work to other Iraqis.

Lilia from Kyiv can now help her daughter get a proper education

Lilia Yarova is a widow from Kyiv, Ukraine. She was forced to leave her home and a job in the capital because of the war. Together with her daughter, they found refuge in the Lviv region. Thanks to the financial support from Caritas Czech Republic, Lilia can afford to send her daughter to school.

Nana Dvalidze, a middle-aged beekeeper from the Alpine zone of Georgia has been producing honey products for years. Although the quality of her honey was excellent and she was distributing it across the whole country, the volume of the production was low as the work with outdated equipment required a lot of time. After Caritas Czech Republic granted Nana modern honey production equipment, honey-pressing became much easier and that enabled her to expand the business.

People have lost everything they had: their home, city, hobbies, roads they used to walk, and status, says Ukrainian psychologist

Ulyana Popova іs a psychologist, who has been working for Caritas Ukraine for more than 4 years. Since the beginning of the war, her work has changed completely. She helps people forced by the war out of their homes to safer parts of Ukraine overcome war horrors and integrate into their new reality. She helps people to learn how to live a normal life in the shadow of the war. Caritas Czech Republic provides psychological training for specialists like Ulyana.

With SlovakAid Support, We Start a New Initiative for Sustainable Wastewater Management in Georgia

Caritas Czech Republic has been working on the establishment of sustainable waste management practices in Georgia through capacity building and development of waste management infrastructure, including the provision of consultancy services as well as technical assistance to target municipalities. After gaining valuable experience in environmental protection, since September 2022, we are starting a new project for promoting sustainable wastewater management in the Oni Municipality. The initiative is financially supported by SlovakAid and we will work in close partnership with the Slovak development organization Sosna.
