We help where we are needed. We provide immediate humanitarian aid to people affected by war or natural disaster. As part of our development cooperation, we help people to cut loose and make a living. We focus on the development of health care and social protection as well as  rural development and environmental protection and actively work on systemic changes in Georgia.

Why HIV self-testing is important for the people in risk-groups

Georgia has a significant stigma around human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). A large part of society still believes that only the LGBT community and intravenous drug users can have such diseases. That is why it is a challenge for people in the risk groups to decide on HIV testing, which, in turn, increases the number of infected people who are not aware of their own HIV-positive status.

The Closing event of the Czech-UNDP Partnership-funded project

On November 25, 2022, the closing event of the project "Behavioral Insights for Low Uptake of HIV Testing in Georgia" was held at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tbilisi. At the event, the parties involved in the project presented the guests to the results of the Randomized Controlled Trial conducted within the initiative and shared the experience gained.

Persons with disabilities presented legislative initiatives to the Parliament of Georgia

Persons with Disabilities still face various challenges when accessing health and social care services in Georgia. This concerns not only physical access to healthcare facilities but also other barriers such as attitudes and stigmas, and lack of respective skills among healthcare professionals. To address this problem, our organization is involved in a project that will lay the foundation for ensuring equitable and inclusive access to quality and gender-sensitive healthcare services for persons with disabilities.

The deinstitutionalization of adults with disabilities in Georgia soon will come to an end

In Georgia, process of transferring adults with disabilities from large boarding houses to family-type homes began in 2011 and is still ongoing. In 2020, Caritas Czech Republic, with the financial support of the Czech Development Agency and in close cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Georgia, developed a deinstitutionalization strategy and an action plan. In addition, our organization took responsibility for providing community-based homes and services for persons with disabilities (PwDs) living in two large boarding homes under state care.

How the income of farmers from Mountainous Georgia increases

Caritas Czech Republic has been working on capacity-building and the improvement of the socio-economic conditions of farmers in Georgia for many years. In 2022, our organization implements a project that aims at increasing the income of beef farmers from Mountainous Georgia by ensuring efficient production resources and inputs, the necessary knowledge, market access, and value-added opportunities. Within the framework of the project, we have already retrained farmers and veterinarians and identified demonstration plots for introducing the practice of rotational grazing. Further, we are planning to distribute grants for purchasing necessary equipment for cattle farming.
