What we do

We help where we are needed. We provide immediate humanitarian aid to people affected by war or natural disaster. As part of our development cooperation, we help people to cut loose and make a living. We focus on the development of health care and social protection as well as  rural development and environmental protection and actively work on systemic changes in Georgia.

Slovak State Secretary Visited Caritas Czech Republic Projects in Racha

Caritas Czech Republic continues to actively cooperate with the Government of Slovakia and thanks to the financial support from Slovak Development Agency, implements development-oriented projects in rural Georgia. In October 2021, Ingrid Brocková – State Secretary of Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid an official visit to Georgia, during which she got acquainted with the projects carried out by our organization in the region of Racha. In addition, Ingrid Brocková participated in an official handover ceremony of a garbage truck and pickup car for separate waste collection to the Oni Municipality.

To Further Support Waste Management, Caritas Czech Republic Joins the EU- and KfW-Financed Project

Thanks to the new partnership with PEM Consult, Caritas Czech Republic continues supporting sustainable waste management practices in rural Georgia. Since August 2021, our organization works on the introduction of waste separation and recycling practices in Racha-Lechkhumi Kvemo Svaneti within the project financed by the European Union and KfW Development Bank.

Way to Home: Caritas Czech Republic Supports Deinstitutionalization Process in Georgia

Although the deinstitutionalization process in Georgia began in 2011, it still has not been finished. In 2020, thanks to the financial support from Czech Development Agency, Caritas Czech Republic elaborated a deinstitutionalization strategy and an action plan in close cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Georgia, and took the responsibility to provide community-based homes and services for persons with disabilities (PWDs) living in two large boarding homes under the state care.

After living in the capital of Georgia for years, 31-Year-Old Nana Iaralishvili decided to move to mountainous Racha and realize her talent in her hometown. With financial support from Slovak Development Agency (SlovakAid), Nana became one of the winners of Caritas Czech Republic grant program and opened an enamel workshop – NanArt in the city of Oni.

Caritas Czech Republic launches an appeal for Afghanistan

Afghanistan has long been facing conflicts, the effects of climate change and poverty. The recent takeover of the country by the Taliban will inevitably deepen the humanitarian crisis and significantly worsen the security situation in the country. A large number of Afghans have no choice but to flee the country and seek a safer place to live. A significant increase in the number of refugees in the surrounding states is expected. In response to the situation, Caritas Czech Republic is launching the appeal Caritas Czech Republic for Afghanistan to help refugees in neighbouring countries.
