As part of our development cooperation, we help people to cut loose and make a living. How the European Union supports Georgia in implementing reforms in food safety

According to official data, approximately 40,000 cases of human food poisoning or disease are registered annually in Georgia. However, the actual numbers are much higher. Food may contain various chemical substances due to consumption, which a person may not be poisoned at once, but in case of systematic intake, they may develop some severe disease. Ensuring food safety is based on the “from farm to fork” principle, in which each chain, starting from the producer and ending with the consumer, has its share of responsibility. The National Food Agency is the main controlling body that detects violations and, if necessary, suspends the business operator's activities.

Best of 2024 in Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia

In 2024, Georgia faced one of its most challenging years in recent history. Despite the difficult political situation, Caritas Czech Republic continued its vital work across various sectors. From providing support to rural farmers and carrying out disaster risk reduction initiatives in the highlands, to strengthening early childhood education and enhancing digital skills for youth with special requirements, our efforts reached hundreds of lives. Kindergarten teacher: Now I know how to support children with specific requirements

Caritas Czech Republic has been working on the development of early childhood services for many years. After a five-year initiative to support children on the autism spectrum, in 2023 we launched a project to support the Early Inclusive Education and Development Program in Georgia. At the end of the year, we visited one of the kindergartens involved in the project, where we saw the results of our work on-site.
